MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Season 2 Trailer Teases Titan X Which Could Be a Classic Kaiju
Apple TV just dropped a new trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2, and it’s setting the stage for something big. The series will pull us back into the MonsterVerse as Godzilla and Kong loom large.
Season 1 already expanded the sandbox with some wild new creatures, but this latest look hints at a threat that could trace its roots back to Toho’s classic kaiju legacy. At the center of it all is a mysterious new monster being referred to as Titan X, and it looks like it’s coming from somewhere far beyond our world.
The trailer leans hard into the idea that Titan X isn’t just another original Titan. Monarch teases the creature as something being unleashed rather than discovered, and its design immediately raises eyebrows.
Multiple massive tentacles surround its core body, a visual that longtime kaiju fans will associate with Biollante. That creature made its debut in 1989’s Godzilla vs. Biollante, where it was revealed to be a tragic fusion born from a rose injected with Godzilla’s DNA.
If Titan X does end up being a reimagined Biollante, the MonsterVerse would almost certainly reshape its origin, especially with the trailer hinting that this entity comes from another world rather than a lab experiment gone wrong.
Biollante isn’t the only possible inspiration on the table. Another contender is Destroyah, one of Godzilla’s most brutal adversaries. Destroyah emerged from the depths of the ocean and was composed of nightmarish crustacean-like organisms, a detail that lines up with some of the unsettling textures and movement seen in the Season 2 footage.
Titan X gives off a similar vibe, suggesting a creature that’s less about brute force and more about overwhelming, spreading destruction.
Then there’s Monster X, whose name alone feels like it’s baked into this tease. Monster X appeared in 2004’s Godzilla: Final Wars as a bone-wrapped alien kaiju that eventually revealed ties to King Ghidorah.
While Titan X doesn’t appear to share the same skeletal look or three-headed silhouette, the naming convention feels like more than a coincidence. The MonsterVerse has a habit of remixing familiar concepts, so it wouldn’t be surprising if elements from multiple classic monsters were folded into a single new threat.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is shaping up to be a major chapter for the MonsterVerse, but it’s only one piece of a much larger kaiju puzzle. Godzilla is set for a huge year beyond streaming.
On November 6th, the sequel to Godzilla Minus One, titled Godzilla Minus Zero, stomps into theaters worldwide. Takashi Yamazaki is back in the director’s chair.
Looking even further ahead, the MonsterVerse returns to the big screen in 2027 with Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. Legendary is keeping the plot under wraps, but rumors continue to swirl about the possible arrival of SpaceGodzilla.
Between Monarch, Godzilla Minus Zero, and the next Godzilla x Kong event, the future looks awesome for kaiju fans.
