NBCU's New Streamer, Peacock, Is Hoping to Reboot THE OFFICE

With this being the era of reboots, remakes, and sequels, most of them make me roll my eyes. But this idea is actually getting my hopes up! A few months ago, we reported that The Office is set to switch over from Netflix to NBC’s streaming service, formerly called NBCUniversal, recently renamed Peacock. And while we are all excited to see the series continue to stream, as we watch the seasons over and over, the years-long rumor that an Office reboot may be happening is now closer than ever to being true!

NBCU’s Chairman of Direct-to-Consumer and Digital Enterprises, Bonnie Hammer, told Deadline:

“It is my hope and goal that we do an Office reboot.”

She went on to add:

The Office comes back to us in January 2021. It is my hope that we can figure what that great reboot would be. We are having conversations.”

Conversations, guys! I would be so thrilled to see these characters back together in new episodes. I miss them and would love to see how they’re all doing since the end of the series. The Office star, Steve Carell has expressed that he would not be interested in continuing the character, and has stated that he believes a character like Michael Scott would not hold up in today’s sensitive climate. I agree that a new character probably wouldn’t. But an old character we already know and love? I think that would work! Plus, I’m sure Michael has toned down his most obnoxious habits with his marriage and kids, and I bet he’s the most hilarious embarrassing dad.

So I say, bring it on! What about you? Would you like to see an Office reboot?
