Neil Gaiman's THE SANDMAN Series Renewed for Season 2 by Netflix!
Netflix has renewed Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman for a second season! The first season of this series was so good, and the fans have been hoping that it would get the Season 2 order, and according to Deadline, the renewal came through!
The report says “the streamer is bringing back the comic book adaptation after various conflicting reports started to surface online.”
The renewal follows an accidental leak from DC Comics’ official Twitter page. The since-deleted tweet read, “The dream continues. [The Sandman] will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel to explore even more stories of the Endless.”
Gaiman previously gave an explanation of why The Sandman was taking a long time to get this renewal, saying: “Sandman Season 1 dropped Aug 5th. The data harvesting has only just finished - and is complicated by a lot of people not binge-watching it, but spreading it out, letting episodes sink in before watching the next. Telling @netflix to hurry up won't make decisions s happen faster.”
It’s exciting to hear that the show will continue! I’m excited to continue to watch this epic fantasy story continue to play out as a live-action series.
In the series: “There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams, gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.”
The cast includes Tom Sturridge as Dream, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Roderick Burgess, Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) as The Corinthian, Patton Oswalt (A.P. Bio) as the voice of Matthew the Raven, Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Good Place) as Death, Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) as Johanna Constantine, Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck) as Ethel Cripps, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, and David Thewlis (the Harry Potter films) as John Dee.
