Netflix Cancels DEAD BOY DETECTIVE After One Season and it was a Great Show!
Netflix has canceled its great supernatural series Dead Boy Detectives after only one season, which is a shame because the show was incredibly entertaining!
The series got great reviews with a 92% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and audiences who tuned in seemed to enjoy it.
The series is based on characters created for DC by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, and the show was a part of The Sandman universe, as the Dead Boy Detectives were first introduced in an issue of The Sandman comic book.
Netflix is hard to like sometimes because they make stupid and clueless decisions with the good shows they cancel and the crappy shows they continue to produce.
Dead Boy Detectives is a ghost story that "explores loss, grief, and death through the lens of Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, two dead British teenagers, and their very alive friend, Crystal Palace (Kassius Nelson)."
The synopsis reads: “Do you have a pesky ghost haunting you? Has a demon stolen your core memories? You may want to ring the Dead Boy Detectives. Meet Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), ‘the brains’ and ‘the brawn’ behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency.”
Teenagers born decades apart “who find each other only in death, Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts… who solve mysteries. They will do anything to stick together – including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself. With the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), they are able to crack some of the mortal realm’s most mystifying paranormal cases.”
Steve Yockey developed the series for television. Yockey also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Beth Schwartz. Greg Berlanti, Jeremy Carver, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Gaiman also serve as executive producers of the series. The first episode is directed and executive produced by Lee Toland Krieger.
The cast of the series also includes Jenn Lyon, Briana Cuoco, Ruth Connell, Lukas Gage, and David Iacono.
