Netflix Cancels SCOTT PILGRIM TAKES OFF After Only One Season
I’ve got some bummer news to share with you regarding the Edgar Wright-produced Scott Pilgrim Takes Off animated series. Netflix has concealed it after only one season.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World fans were excited about the series when it was first announced and it delivered a whole new anime-style take on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s original Scott Pilgrim comic series.
The show was a lot of fun, but I guess the fan base wasn’t big enough to warrant a second season. O’Malley shared the news of the cancelation on X, saying:
“It’s been one year since Scott Pilgrim Takes Off came out. It was an honor to work with all of the cast & staff around the world. It was like conducting a symphony orchestra every day.
“From the moment [series writer BenDavid Granbinski] sparked the idea, the project felt like a one of a kind miracle. Anyway, we were recently informed that the show will NOT return.”
“As you know, we only intended one season, and called in a lot of favors to make it happen, so making more would have been nearly impossible. Still, I know some of you have been holding out hope.”
One of the things that made Scott Pilgrim Takes Off special was the entire cast from the film returned to reprise their roles including Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons as “Young” Neil Nordegraf, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Mae Whitman as Roxie Richter, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.
I would’ve liked the see the series get one more season, but it’s not hard to understand why we won’t be getting another season.
