Netflix is Producing a $25 Million Female Action Film Called KATE
Last week we learned that Netflix has huge plans for 2018 as they plan on spending $8 billion on content that includes 80 original feature films. According to Deadline, one of those films is a hardcore female action film called Kate and they plan on spending $25 million to make it.
Kate is described as a hard-boiled action thriller with a female protagonist that sources said is reminiscent of Kill Bill and La Femme Nikita. The writer of the film, Umair Aleem, would love to cast Cate Blanchett in the role as the lead character named Lee Marvin, but we'll have to wait and see if that happens.
After seeing Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok, I would love to see her star in a kick-ass action movie! The story follows a woman who has 24 hours to solve her own murder.
The movie will be produced by Kelly McCormick (Atomic Blonde), John Wick co-director David Leitch, and Bryan Unkeless (The Hunger Games, I, Tonya). Netflix is currently looking for a director and star and they hope to start production in April of 2018.
We can expect to see Netflix make more deals like this in the near future. Netflix has been producing some incredibly good film content and I'm excited about what they are planning for the future.
