Netflix's Canceled WARRIOR NUN Series Will Return as a Trilogy of Films!

Warrior Nun, the series that was canceled by Netflix after two seasons, is confirmed to return, but this time it’s coming back as a trilogy of movies, which is awesome news! This is all thanks to the support from the fans of the show.

A couple of months ago it was reported that the series was revived and we just assumed that it would be for a third season. Series creator Simon Barry previously said: “Today I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion and amazing efforts — #WarriorNun will return and is going to be more EPIC than you could imagine. More details to come! SOON! Thank-you!!”

Little did we know that the epic plan was to develop a trilogy of movies! Executive Producer Dean English made the latest announcement on social media, saying Netflix picked up three films based on the comic book character Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn.

He said: “I need to start by thanking all of you loyal fans. It’s because of you and your incredible energy that we keep pushing forward to make these stories. You guys really make it all worthwhile. So thank you so much for your continued support. I am very happy to announce that Warrior Nun is coming back as a trilogy of motion pictures. Once again, a trilogy of feature films. Three.”

English went on to acknowledge the strikes in Hollywood involving actors and writers and went on to say: “Some may ask, ‘Does this perhaps infer that there’s going to be a universe being launched of Warrior Nun, which could expand into films and TV series following characters that we already know?’ The answer to that question is yes. And there will be more details in the future.”

The series is based on the manga-style comic series of the same name that was created by Ben Dunn. The story is set in the middle of an ancient war between good and evil, and it follows “a young girl wakes up in a morgue with inexplicable powers. Her search for answers brings her to The Order of the Cruciform Sword, a secret society of warrior nuns sworn to protect the world from evil. While juggling her responsibilities as the chosen one with the normal obstacles of a teenage girl, this mysterious fantasy drama is full of mystery, action, adventure, and teenage romance, proving our main character might fight in the name of good, but she’s no angel.”

Check out English’s announcement video below. I enjoyed the first two seasons of this show, and I’m excited that the story will continue with three films!
