Netflix's THE WITCHER Series Gets a Brief Plot Summary and a 2019 Release Window

Writer, producer, and showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has shared a bit of new information on Netflix's The Witcher series that she is developing. She shared the update from Netflix that offers us a brief plot summary and also reveals that the series will be released at some point in 2019.

The plot summary reads: "The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts."

Henry Cavill was recently cast in the lead role of Geralt, which got fans incredibly excited. His character is described as a "solitary monster hunter, who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts." It's also revealed that "when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together."

The show is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's book and CD Projekt Red's game trilogy. When previously talking about the show, Hissrich assured fans that it would not be a watered down version of the dark and hardcore story.

The Witcher story chronicles monster hunters who, with training and body modification, develop supernatural abilities at a young age to battle deadly beasts. Executive producers Sean Daniel and Jason Brown previously released the following statement offering some additional insight into the story:

“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”

It's great to see this series is coming together nicely. I can't wait to see who else ends up being cast in it!
