Neve Campbell Shares Her Thoughts on The "Disrespectful" Offer She Got For SCREAM VI
Neve Campbell is still feeling the sting of the offer that Paramount Pictures made to her to appear in Scream VI. She felt that the offer was disrespectful, so she ended up passing on appearing in the film. It’s a shame that they excluded her from the last film because of it. Just pay her what she’s worth! She is the face of the Scream franchise!
During an interview with KiSS 92.5, Campbell once again addressed her exclusion from Scream VI after franchise writer Kevin Williamson recently expressed his support for Campbell. When she’s asked if fan service would be enough to get her to return to the slasher franchise, Campbell talked about how she still feels disrespected, saying:
“It’s a hard question because it’s a matter of principle, as well. As much as I love the characters that I’ve played and ones that I’ve had a history with, it’s also very important to me the concept of equal pay. I think we’re still not there yet. I really do believe that had I been a male, that the offer would have been different. I can’t prove that, but it’s the feeling I have, and the way that I was treated was not great, and it feels disrespectful. So at what point does self-respect come into play? It needs to always be there, right?”
At this point, who knows if Campbell will ever come back to the franchise? Scream VII is moving forward with Happy Death Day director Christopher Campbell, but there’s no indication that Campbell will be wanted for the movie.
When Williamson shared his support for Campbell and her decision not to come back and play Sidney Prescott in Scream VI, he said:
“I know her well. I love and adore her, and that’s what she did, and it’s great for her. I love everyone involved with Scream, and all I can say is pay her the money. Yes, you heard it, everyone. That’s what I would do. I would give her that.”
It’d be a real shame if Paramount Pictures decided to cut Campbell out of the franchise because they aren’t willing to pay the actress what she’s worth.
