Neve Campbell Confirms She'll Return for SCREAM 7 and Kevin Williamson Will Direct

Neve Campbell has confirmed that she is set to officially return as Sidney Prescott for the next film being developed in the Scream franchise. She also announced that Scream franchise creator and writer Kevin Williamson will direct the next installment of the franchise! This is exciting news for Scream fans! She shared a photo of the script along with a note that reads:

Hi All. I’m so excited to announce this news!!! Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!! It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!! Well actually I could. While I’ve been so incredibly lucky to make these films with both the master of horror Wes Craven and the wonderfully talented Matt and Tyler team, I’ve dreamt for many years of how amazing it would be to make one of these movies with Kevin Williamson at the helm. And now it’s happening, Kevin Williamson is going to direct Scream 7! This was his baby and it’s his brilliant mind that dreamt up this world. Kevin is not just an inspiration as an artist but has been a dear friend for many years. To the amazing Scream fans, I hope you are as excited as I am. See you on set @kevwilliamson

The script for Scream 7 is written by Guy Busick, from a story that he came up with with James Vanderbilt, who will continue to produce Scream 7.

It was previously reported that producers were looking to bring back Campbell after Melissa Barrera was fired by Spyglass over comments she made on social media over the Israel-Hamas conflict. Jenna Ortega also ended up bowing out due to “scheduling conflicts” with Wednesday Season 2.

Williamson will take over as director after Christopher Landon exited the film over all of the issues and drama that were happening behind the scenes. His vision of the film just completely fell apart.

When previously talking about getting Campbell to come back to the franchise, Williamson shared his support for her saying: “I know her well. I love and adore her, and that’s what she did, and it’s great for her. I love everyone involved with Scream, and all I can say is pay her the money. Yes, you heard it, everyone. That’s what I would do. I would give her that.”

And that’s exactly what he did to get her back on board the franchise!
