New AHSOKA Photo with Sabine Wren and Ahsoka and Insight on The Search For Ezra
Thanks to Empire Magazine we have a new photo to share with you from Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Ahsoka along with some new story details from the series. The image above features Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren.
In the series, Sabine is still very much dedicated to finding Ezra Bridger who blasted off to an unknown location with the sinister Grand Admiral Thrawn. Bordizzo talked about her character’s arc in the series, saying:
“She feels an obligation to him. When they freed Lothal, she was given this hero status. But she doesn’t feel that she’s earned that because she lost her friend in that whole debacle. She’s just focused on the promise she made to him to find him.”
Dave Filoni also offered some insight in regards to the epilogue in Rebels, saying:
“Even at the time I did the Rebels epilogue, I felt like, ‘If I go forward with this, this has to be challenging in another way. And the challenge was going to be live-action. I wanted to resolve these things with [Ahsoka], but I wanted to do something new with it.”
I love that this series is going to pretty much pick up where Rebels left off, then the search for Ezra Bridger is going to begin.
The series is set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka “follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.”
Ahsoka and Sabine are on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn in hopes that it will lead them to find the lost Ezra Bridger. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also set to star in the series and is playing Hera Syndulla, and the droid, Chopper, also returns.
On top of that, we’ve got Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Ivanna Sakhno, Eman Esfandi as Ezra, and Ray Stevenson. The limited series is written by Dave Filoni who executive produces along with Jon Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy.
The series will debut exclusively on Disney+ in August 2023.
