New Anxiety-Ridden Trailer for Joaquin Phoenix's BEAU IS AFRAID
A24 has released another trailer for the director Ari Aster’s intriguing new film Beau Is Afraid, which Joaquin Phoenix as an anxiety-ridden man who embarks on an insane journey in which he confronts his fears. This movie looks so good, and I’m looking forward to jumping into this nightmare-fueled adventure.
The movie looks like it’s going to be a fever dream, which makes sense coming from the filmmaker that previously brought us Hereditary and Midsommar! The synopsis reads: “A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film.”
Phoenix is joined in the film by Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen Mckinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Denis Ménochet, Kylie Rogers, Armen Nahapetian, Parker Posey, and Patti LuPone.
Aster previously described the film as a “nightmare comedy,” and “a Jewish Lord of the Rings, but He [Joaquin Phoenix’s character] is just going to his mom’s house.” He went on to say, “I want to put you in the experience of being a loser,” and that “if you pumped a ten-year-old full of Zoloft and had him get your groceries… that’s like this movie.”
Beau Is Afraid will be released in theaters on April 21, 2023.
