New ARGYLLE Featurette Focuses on the "Madness" of Director Matthew Vaughn and How Wild the Film Is
Apple TV+ has released a new behind the scenes featurette for the upcoming action comedy spy thriller, Argylle. The video teases a “crazy” and “mind-blowing” film and the “madness’ of director Matthew Vaughn.
The video features Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, and more discussing how Vaughn fans should prepare for a “non-stop,” “slightly mad” thriller. It also offers up some fun footage from the movie.
Here’s the synopsis:
Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.
Accompanied by Aiden (Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.
This is said to be the first of at least three films in the franchise and is set in America, London, and multiple locations across the world.
Jason Fuchs wrote the script and is producing along with Vaughn’s regular collaborators Adam Bohling and David Reid. Vaughn previously said, “When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the ‘50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”
Argylle will be released in theaters on February 2, 2024.
