New AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Toys Say Shang-Chi May Be the Only Hero Powerful Enough to Stop Doctor Doom
Marvel fans have been digging through every new Avengers: Doomsday reveal looking for clues about what the movie has in store, and the latest wave of merchandise has dropped a pretty wild tease.
A new line of Avengers: Doomsday action figures from Hasbro appears to suggest that Simu Liu's Shang-Chi could end up playing a much bigger role in the battle against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom than anyone expected.
The new toy line, first revealed by People, features several of Earth's Mightiest Heroes gearing up for the fight ahead. But one character description stands out from the rest, and it reveals and interesting claim about Shang-Chi's importance in the story.
According to the description on Shang-Chi's figure, the hero "may be the only hero powerful enough to stop the threat the Avengers face."
That's a pretty massive statement, especially considering the threat in question is almost certainly Doctor Doom.
We haven't seen Shang-Chi since Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hit theaters back in 2021, but his debut made it clear that the mystical Ten Rings are among the MCU's most powerful weapons.
While they don't carry the same reality-shaping power as the Infinity Stones, they've already demonstrated abilities far beyond anything we've seen from conventional weapons.
If Doom is on a mission to conquer entire universes, it's easy to imagine the Ten Rings becoming one of the few artifacts capable of challenging him.
Whether the toy description is revealing a genuine plot point or simply leaning into some marketing hype remains to be seen. Still, it's exactly the kind of detail Marvel fans love picking apart while waiting for the next trailer.
The merchandise has offered another interesting clue as well. A recently revealed LEGO set titled Epic Battle: Doomsday Showdown appears to spoil one of the movie's biggest action sequences.
The set includes Thor, Reed Richards, Mystique, Magneto, Nightcrawler, and Doctor Doom facing off against a giant Sentinel.
That lines up with footage shown in the Avengers: Doomsday Comic-Con trailer, which featured Doom raising an army of Sentinels. It certainly looks like the battle could take place at the X-Mansion early in the film.
We'll find out just how important Shang-Chi's role really is when Avengers: Doomsday crashes into theaters on December 18.
