New BATMAN RETURNS Action Figures Give Us The Christopher Walken Max Shreck Figure

Tim Burton’s Batman Returns may not have been the most family-friendly superhero movie to ever pair with McDonald’s, but its dark, twisted style has made it a classic over the decades.

Many fans even argue it surpasses Burton’s original Batman from 1989. Now, McFarlane Toys is giving that legacy some love with a new line of detailed Batman Returns action figures that bring Gotham’s most bizarre characters to collectors’ shelves.

Of course, Michael Keaton’s armored-up Batman is front and center, alongside Danny DeVito’s grotesque Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer’s unforgettable Catwoman. But the real surprise in this wave also includes Christopher Walken’s corporate sleazeball Max Shreck.

The Max Shreck figure comes decked out in the character’s striped suit, sharp red bowtie, and signature menacing glare. Since this is part of the Deluxe Theatrical Editions line, fans are hoping for multiple head sculpts and maybe some fitting accessories.

Batman’s figure features his slightly updated suit from the sequel, trading the muscle-like sculpt of the 1989 version for a sleeker, more tactical look.

Catwoman is striking in her stitched latex catsuit, whip in hand, and yes — the story about Pfeiffer actually holding a live bird in her mouth during filming still blows minds.

Penguin shows up in his mayoral candidate look, complete with coat, top hat, and umbrella, but there’s also a deluxe option that pairs him with his massive Duck vehicle.

The vehicle is scaled for the 7” figures, and its sculpt even features speaker holes in the front for screen accuracy.

Fans can also army-build with a three-pack of Commando Penguins, fully loaded to carry out Oswald Cobblepot’s explosive plans for Gotham. As Penguin himself declared in the film:

"It's okay to be scared. Many of you won't be coming back. Thanks to Batman, the time has come to punish all God's children! 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th-born! Why be biased? Male and female! Hell, the sexes are equal with their erogenous zones blown sky high! Forward march! The liberation of Gotham has begun!"

For collectors eager to get their hands on these, pre-orders open September 19th. Max Shreck and The Penguin with The Duck will be GameStop exclusives at launch, with Shreck also hitting Walmart and Target in October and November.

The Commando Penguins are online exclusives through the McFarlane Toys Store, while Batman, Catwoman, and the standard Penguin figure will be available at a variety of retailers.

With these new Batman Returns figures, McFarlane Toys is giving fans the definitive lineup they’ve been waiting for, and the addition of Christopher Walken’s Max Shreck makes this wave something pretty awesome.
