New Details on The JOHN WICK TV Series Reveals Title, Concept, and Keanu Reeves' Involvement

John Wick co-director Chad Stahleski recently confirmed that Lionsgate was in the process of developing a John Wick prequel series. He said,

“There are a lot of ideas being thrown around right now. A lot of people working on it. I don’t know if they’ve locked in a consensus yet. But they have some very good people on it.”

Some of those ideas have recently surfaced, and this John Wick series could actually be pretty damn awesome. According to a report from IndieWire, the series will be titled The Continental and it will put the focus on the host of hitman hotels that are set up around the world. Lionsgate is apparently really excited about the series and when talking about it, Stahleski offers the following details on what the plot will revolve around:

“They’ve got a really good structure. It’s very tied to the film [in that] it’s about the Continentals all over the world, how certain people come into that world, and what happens in relation to those people, which is cool. I think the world is very vast, and everything I’ve heard from it is very positive. […] It’s something that studio seems very, very intent on [making] and very, very behind.”

Sounds like the series could tell several different stories from the perspective of different hitmen from around the world and that could be pretty cool. Seeing a story of a different hitman play out every episode could be fun, and those characters could always crossover with each other as well. They could really build a cool connected universe with this series. The filmmaker goes on to say:

“I like telling stories from my one character’s perspective. Once you put that aside with the TV show, [you can] expand to all the different characters and follow them throughout their journey. You can be with the consigliere, concierge, the sommelier — you can be with all these different characters and walk through the world in different aspects; ones that I’m a little limited [from exploring] by staying with my lead guy.”

Now, the big question we're all wondering about is... will Keanu Reeves be involved? The answer to that question is, yes. They want him involved and it sounds like he will show up in the series.

“I think he would make an appearance. I think that’s part of his thing, [But the series] isn’t centered around John Wick.”

If he did show up, it would probably be brief cameos here and there. It would be cool to see him back in action again. Maybe going after someone or helping someone out. With the series being based around The Continental, one character I think would need to be in the series is Winston, who is played by Ian McShane.

I'm actually pretty excited to see how this series turns out! I really like the direction that the studio is taking it. What do you think about the concept behind the series?
