New FAST X Photos and Brie Larson Confirms She's Playing Mr. Nobody's Daughter

The end is coming for Fast and Furious with Fast X, the first of two films that will close out this long-running high-octane action franchise. The franchise has been racing on the road at high speeds for more than two decades, and with each film, it just gets more and more over-the-top and ridiculous. It’s sure to be quite a ride as we watch the story come to the end over these next two films.

Some new photos have surfaced from Fast X thanks to Empire and two of them highlight two of the big stars joining the franchise including Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes, the son of the drug lord killed in Fast Five, and Brie Larson’s Tess.

Larson also offered up some new details on her character confirming that Tess is the daughter of Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody. She teased her character saying:

"Tess is Mr. Nobody's daughter. She is technically Agency, but she's kind of a bridge, in a way. She doesn't go along with the way that the Agency's headed now that her father isn't there. She believes in the legacy that her father set up, which is standing with Dom and standing with the Toretto family, and is fighting for that. Dom knows that she has a strong mind and definitely respects that she's gone out of her way to talk to him and wants to build trust. What he asks of Tess is a test. Like, if it's an impossible task, and she can get it done, then that's family for life."

Mr. Nobody is a covert agent who appeared in Fast & Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, F9 and was mentioned in Hobbs & Shaw. In F9 flashbacks we learned that he helped Han fake Han’s death, but his story arc was left pretty open-ended.

In the movie, Jason Momoa’s character is out for epic explosive revenge because of how Vin Diesel’s Dom wronged him in the past, which ties to Fast 5. He’s on a mission to break Dom by breaking his family.

Fast X, the tenth film in the Fast & Furious Saga, launches the final chapters of one of cinema’s most storied and popular global franchises, now in its third decade and still going strong with the same core cast and characters as when it began.

Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves, forever.

In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price.

Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.

The film was Directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk), who previously talked about taking the franchise back to its roots, saying:

"What I wanted to do on this one, because it's very much my style, was to ground it more in reality. I wanted to — no pun intended — land it back on Earth. They went into space in number nine, and I was like, 'okay, they went to space, there's no way I can top that.' But what I can do is do stuff that we've never done before practically, such as rolling a one-ton bomb — an actual one ton metal ball in the streets of Rome, and hope not to destroy the Colosseum."

Michelle Rodriguez also teased a jaw-dropping ending that will “really, really” surprise fans of the franchise. Fast X also stars returning cast members Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Michael Rooker, Jordana Brewster, Jason Statham, John Cena, and Scott Eastwood.

Some of the other new cast members include Alan Ritchson (Reacher) as Aimes, the new head of the Agency who doesn’t hold the same fondness for Dom’s crew as his predecessor, Mr. Nobody; Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) as a Brazilian street racer with a powerful tie to Dom’s past; and Rita Moreno as Dom and Mia’s Abuelita Toretto.

The movie hits theaters on May 19th.
