New Look at Muncher the Ghost From GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE
We got a quick blurry glimpse of a blue ghost in the trailer for director Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. That ghost’s name is Muncher, and we have a new look giving us our best look yet at the blue blobby specter thanks to Master Chef Junior Spain, which was doing some tie-in movie marketing.
The six-armed ghost was presented on the Ghostbusters-themed episode of the show along with a pool of blue slime and and a life-sized replica of the Ecto-1. You can check all of that out in the video below.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set in the same universe as the original film, and the story centers on “a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.”
The story will also have something to do with Ivo Shandor and the Cult of Gozer, who were discussed in the original film. You can read more about that here.
Jason Reitman previously talked about the tone of the film and what he was going for in terms of comedy and horror:
“The feeling that I’ve kind of held onto is that while it is very funny, it really scared me. It was really my first experience with a horror film. I was at a Directors Guild meeting and I happened to be sitting next to Steven Spielberg – when I told him I was working on Ghostbusters, he out of nowhere said, ‘Library Ghost – top ten scares of all time.’ And it’s true.”
The script for the film comes from Gil Kenan, and the movie stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver are also said to be returning.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set to be released on November 11th.
