New Marvel Rumors Include the Fate of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom After AVENGERS: SECRET WARS
It was one year ago this week that Marvel confirmed Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU, but this time, in the role of villain. Downey is set to portray Doctor Victor von Doom in the next two Avengers movies, and he’s been teased in a certain post-credits scene, but as of right now, we don’t know the character’s fate post-Avengers: Secret Wars.
A new rumor points to the idea that Doom will not only not be defeated in Secret Wars, but he will live beyond that film as well.
Industry scooper Daniel Richtman claims that Marvel Studios is currently discussing having Downey continue playing Doom after Avengers: Secret Wars is released at the end of 2027.
This makes sense as Doom was long-reigning in the comics, and it would be cool to see Marvel's First Family battle him a little longer as they were all just recently introduced. We will just have to see if Downey is willing to stick around as the character, but fans would more than likely be willing to watch him.
Other updates from the insider include the news that an actor has been cast as the MCU's Ghost Rider (the Spirit of Vengeance has previously been rumored to appear in Avengers: Doomsday), and plans for Blade to start shooting next year.
These are all pretty exciting updates. Hopefully we will see Blade and Ghost Rider return soon, and Doctor Doom will get a good arc in the MCU.
