New Photo From Marvel's I AM GROOT, Which Will Be a Wild, Weird, and Rude Series
Marvel’s I Am Groot animated series is going to be a fun show. I already had the opportunity to watch the first episode, and I enjoyed it! This is going to be a goofy and wild good time. I Am Groot will consist of five shorts that will focus on “Baby Groot” as he gets into hijinks, and it will introduce fans to several new and unusual characters.
We’ve got a new photo from the series to share with you today along with some additional details on the show.
The five episodes are directed by Kirsten Lepore, and the series picks up from James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II. Vin Diesel is reprising his role as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper will be returning to voice Rocket Raccoon, and Gunn is executive producing the show.
Lepore tells Empire in a recent interview, “As much as it’s still Groot and he’s still cute, he’s also a little bad baby who’s very mischievous.” She goes on to say that the series, is a chance to “just go wild and make it weird and rude and sci-fi. It was a really fun sandbox to play in.”
One other thing that we can expect to see from the series is that it will lean into the comedy, “There aren’t a lot of comedy shows on the Marvel animation roster, so even though they are shorts, we really got to play up how funny they are.”
Lepore goes on to tease an episode of the series titled “Magnum Opus,” in which we see Groot get crafty with items snatched from his friends, “I will say he maybe pilfers some things from some of his fellow Guardians who may or may not make an appearance, to create something really big and really wonderful. He may have a voice Easter egg in one of our episodes.”
