New Poster for THE NORTHMAN and Ethan Hawke Talks About Doing Viking Acid with Willem Dafoe
Director Robert Eggers’ The Northman is one of my most anticipated films of the year. Eggers is an insanely talented filmmaker and it looks like he’s made an epically badass Viking movie!
We’ve got a new poster to share with you today for the movie and during a recent interview with GQ, one of hte film’s stars, Ethan Hawke, opened up about working with Dafoe on The Northman and shared a bit of info regarding a scene they shared, and it involved Viking acid:
"It's like you found some epic Viking poem that's 700 years old and brought it to life. We have one amazing scene. We get naked and do some kind of Viking acid and howl at the moon together. And oh my god, if you have to be naked and howl at the moon, he's a great person to do it with."
Yep, that sounds like a good time! The Northman is set at the turn of the 10th century in Iceland, and the story explores how far a Viking prince will go get revenge for his murdered father. It also doesn’t hold back on the blood and gore. When previously talking about making the movie Eggers said:
"When I first thought, ‘I want to make a Viking movie,’ I knew three things. I knew it needs to take place mostly in Iceland, it needs to have a revenge story, and it needs to have a naked swordfight on a volcano…"
The Northman also stars Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Björk, and Ralph Ineson. It lands in theaters on April 22nd.
