New STAR TREK Short Features Spock Visiting Kirk's Grave While Starfleet Retrieves The Enterprise-D
I’ve got an awesome new Star Trek short that you’ve got to watch! It’s titled “Regeneration” and it features Spock visiting James Kirk's grave on Veridian III, while Starfleet is recovering the USS Enterprise-D saucer section.
The video was created and shared by the Gene Roddenberry Estate and OTOY for the new Roddenberry Archives website. On the site, fans can virtually tour the bridge of the Enterprise as it has appeared throughout Star Trek's history and more.
Spock was digitally recreated for the short and it perfectly captures the likeness of Leonard Nimoy. While Spock is visiting his friend's final resting place, he retires Kirk’s Starfleet badge.
The short draws inspiration from two primary sources. The Enterprise-D's recovery is inspired by its return in Star Trek: Picard Season 3. Geordi La Forge rebuilt the ship for the Starfleet Museum after Starfleet determined that the Prime Directive wouldn't allow for the vessel to remain on Veridian III's surface.
Then there was the Star Trek Novel “Ashes of Eden,” written by William Shatner. The stories follow Kirk after he’s resurrected after his death in Star Trek Generations and continues his journeys in the Star Trek: The Next Generation era.
There was an episode of Star Trek: Picard’s final season that confirmed Section 31 has Kirk's body in stasis at Daystrom Station. Anyway, watch the short below and tell us what you think!
