New Story Trailer for STAR WARS: GALACTIC RACER Sets Up an Outer Rim Rivalry Fueled by Speed and Revenge

If you're a fan of high-speed Star Wars action, the latest trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer offers a much better look at what players can expect when the game launches later this year.

Fuse Games has released a new story-focused trailer that digs deeper into the characters, rivalries, and underground racing culture that drive the game's campaign, and it's shaping up to be a fun twist on the franchise.

I’m excited about this game! One of the reasons for that is because I was also a fan of Star Wars Episode I: Racer on the Nintendo 64, which was released alongside Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace back in 1999. Galactic Racer looks like it could capture some of that same energy while carving out its own identity.

Set during the New Republic era after the fall of the Empire, the story takes players to the desert world of Jakku, the same planet featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. As the galaxy struggles to rebuild, a dangerous new racing circuit known as The Galactic League emerges from the lawless reaches of the Outer Rim.

This isn't an officially sanctioned sporting event. It's an underground competition funded by criminal syndicates, where fortunes can be made, legends can be born, and racers are willing to risk everything for glory.

The new trailer centers on a racer named Shade, whose motivations extend far beyond crossing the finish line first. According to the game's official synopsis:

"No Force. No prophecy. Just skill, strategy, and the will to rise." The story continues: "Lucasfilm Games' Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a runs-based, high-stakes reinvention of racing born in the Outer Rim.

“With the Empire gone and the galaxy rebuilding, The Galactic League is created: an underground, unsanctioned circuit where syndicates bankroll chaos and champions are forged. At the heart of it all is Shade, a lone racer with a dream of glory and revenge.

“For Shade, the League isn’t just a race; it’s a shot at reclaiming destiny. But standing in Shade's way is Kestar, a ruthless rival who has his own power-hungry plans for the League. As the Galactic League rises, so does the rivalry that could define it. Shade must forge alliances, outpace rivals, and survive long enough to become an elite racing pilot."

The game also features Sebulba, the infamous podracer from The Phantom Menace. His appearance helps connect this new racing adventure to a familiar corner of Star Wars lore while introducing a fresh cast of competitors fighting for dominance on the track.

The combination of high-stakes racing, Outer Rim crime syndicates, personal rivalries, and a story built around earning your place in the galaxy gives Star Wars: Galactic Racer a unique angle.

It also helps that the game isn't leaning on Jedi, Sith, or galaxy-shaping prophecies. Instead, it's focused on racers trying to make a name for themselves through talent, determination, and survival.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is developed by Fuse Games and published by Lucasfilm Games and Secret Mode. The game launches on October 6, 2026, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

After watching this latest trailer, I'm more than ready to jump into the cockpit and see if this can become the modern successor to one of the best Star Wars racing games ever made.
