New STREET FIGHTER Trailer Nails the Look, the Vibe, the Fights, and That Perfect ’90s Energy

Paramount has unleashed the second trailer for Street Fighter, and it looks like this franchise might be getting the big-screen adaptation fans have been waiting decades for.

The reboot leans hard into what makes the games iconic, and this latest footage shows off slick fight choreography, spot-on character designs, and a tone that actually looks really fun.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film is set in 1993 and follows the classic duo of Andrew Koji’s Ryu and Noah Centineo’s Ken Masters. The two are pulled back into the fight by Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, as she assembles fighters for the World Warrior Tournament.

The trailer leans into the energy of the games with stylized action and a colorful, slightly chaotic vibe that feels ripped straight out of the arcade era.

The official synopsis lays it out clearly: “Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.

“But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!”

The movie doesn’t look like it’s trying to be overly serious. Instead, it embraces the heightened reality of the games, and that choice might be exactly what this franchise needs.

What really stands out is how committed the film is to getting the characters right. From costumes to fighting styles, everything looks pulled straight from the source material. Fans have been burned before, but it looks like the creative team actually understands what makes these fighters click.

The cast also includes Cody Rhodes showing up as Guile, Orville Peck takes on Vega, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson plays Balrog, and Jason Momoa brings Blanka to life. You’ve also got Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Olivier Richters as Zangief, and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda. On the villain side, David Dastmalchian steps into the role of M. Bison, with Joe Anoa'i as Akuma.

Then there are some curveball additions like Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Mel Jarnson as Cammy, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, and Alexander Volkanovski as Joe. It’s an eclectic mix, but that kind of energy fits the Street Fighter world.

This new trailer makes it clear the movie isn’t trying to reinvent the franchise. It’s embracing it. The over-the-top personalities, the global roster of fighters, and the tournament structure are all front and center.

After decades of false starts, this might finally be the Street Fighter movie that lands a clean hit. The live-action Street Fighter reboot is set to hit theaters on October 16!
