New Trailer for Sama Weaving's CAROLINA CAROLINA Unleashes a Wild Crime Romance Fueled by Passion and Trouble

Magnolia Pictures just dropped a scorching new trailer for Carolina Caroline, and it’s got everything you’d want from a gritty indie crime thriller with a romantic edge. This one comes from filmmaker Adam Carter Rehmeier, and audiences are in for a chaotic, seductive ride.

After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025, reactions praised its energy and the chemistry between its leads. Now, with the full trailer out, we have a much better idea about what this movie is going to deliver.

At the center of the story is Samara Weaving, playing Caroline Daniels, a young woman stuck in a dead-end Texas town, craving something bigger. That “something” arrives in the form of a smooth-talking drifter played by Kyle Gallner, who pulls her into a life of small-time cons that quickly spiral into something much more dangerous.

Their partnership evolves into a volatile mix of crime and romance as they move through the American Southeast, leaving a trail of chaos behind them.

The film also features Kyra Sedgwick and Jon Gries, and soundtrack leans hard into country roots, with music from artists like Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, and Loretta Lynn.

Early reactions describe the film as a "rip-roaring, tragic, joyride" with "a pair of dynamite lead performances." Gallner himself adds to that energy, calling it a "sexy summertime crime love story chaotic fun for your eyes."

Here’s the official synopsis: "In his latest slice of anarchic Americana, writer-director Adam Carter Rehmeier first introduces us to the always effervescent Samara Weaving as Caroline.

“Listless and living a small life in a small town, she dutifully cares for her single father (Jon Gries) though she longs to break from her dusty and dull world.

“But when she observes a handsome drifter (Kyle Gallner) pull a sly con for a few bucks, her curiosity sparks an introduction that ignites an apprenticeship. Before long, their lucrative, if untenable, criminal enterprise dovetails into a passionate romance."

Rehmeier, known for films like Dinner in America and Snack Shack, both great films, seems to be leaning fully into his knack for offbeat storytelling here, blending romance, crime, and raw character work into something that feels unpredictable and fun.

The screenplay comes from Tom Dean, and it arrives in select theaters on June 5th, 2026.
