New Trailer for Disney’s HEXED Conjures Up a Magical Adventure With Witches, Wizards, and a Three-Eyed Cat
Disney is cooking up another fun animated fantasy adventure with Hexed, and the new trailer introduces a magical world filled with witches, wizards, strange creatures, and one teenage girl who has no idea what she's gotten herself into.
The film stars Hailee Steinfeld as Billie, an outcast teenager who discovers she has magical powers. Unfortunately, getting those powers under control is another story. When Billie accidentally opens a portal to the magical world of Hexe, she finds herself surrounded by experienced witches and wizards who know a lot more about magic than she does.
Billie is thrilled to finally explore her abilities, but her arrival in Hexe quickly causes trouble. The powerful Queen Celeste wants her captured, and it appears Billie may have a much bigger role to play in the magical world than she realizes.
As a grumpy, three-eyed green cat named Beef Roger Crummchuk, voiced by Walton Goggins, explains in the trailer, "It was foretold that an ordinary girl would become an extraordinary witch and save the world of magic from evil."
It looks like Billie might be the witch everyone's been waiting for, whether she's ready for the responsibility or not. The trailer also reveals that Billie's mother, Alice, voiced by Rashida Jones, has been hiding her daughter's magical abilities for years.
She placed a purple gem on Billie's wrist to suppress her powers and protect her from the dangers of magic. Of course, that plan falls apart when Billie accidentally transports herself to Hexe, forcing Alice to go after her.
There's clearly more to this family's magical history than Billie knows, and it'll be interesting to see what secrets her mother has been keeping.
One of the more entertaining characters introduced in the trailer is Beef Roger Crummchuk, the sarcastic magical cat who becomes Billie's reluctant mentor.
First revealed at Disney's D23 Expo in September, Beef looks like a fun addition to the adventure, with his grouchy personality and unusual appearance.
He's tasked with helping Billie figure out her magic, although their lessons don't always go according to plan. At one point, a microwave ends up getting destroyed, which suggests Billie has plenty to learn before she's ready to save anybody.
The new trailer gives us a much better look at Hexe and its magical inhabitants, with plenty of colorful fantasy action and humor. The use of Paramore's "Ain't It Fun" also adds some playful energy to the footage.
Disney has given us plenty of memorable witches over the years, most of them villains, so it's fun to see the studio put a young witch at the center of her own adventure.
So far, Hexed looks like it'll be another fun, magical Disney animated movie with some entertaining characters and a charming story. The world looks great, Billie seems like a likable hero, and Beef could end up being one of the film's funniest characters.
Whether it can reach the same heights as Disney hits like Frozen and Moana remains to be seen, but there's definitely some potential here.
Disney's Hexed arrives in theaters on November 25, 2026, just in time for Thanksgiving.
