New Trailer for HOW TO MAKE A KILLING Has Glen Powell Cutting Down His Family Tree
Studiocanal and A24 just has released a new trailer for How to Make a Killing, and it leans hard into the film’s darkly funny and ruthless premise.
The movie follows a disowned black sheep who decides the fastest way to an inheritance is eliminating everyone standing between him and the money. This looks like a twisted dark comedy that keeps raising the stakes with every body that drops.
The film stars Glen Powell as Becket Redfellow, a blue-collar guy cast aside at birth by his obscenely wealthy family. When fate gives him a shot at reclaiming his fortune, Becket goes all in. The official logline reads:
“Heir today, gone tomorrow. Disowned at birth by his obscenely wealthy family, blue-collar man Becket Redfellow (Powell) will stop at nothing to reclaim his billions in inheritance – no matter how many relatives stand in his way.”
How to Make a Killing is written and directed by John Patton Ford, marking his second feature after Emily the Criminal. This time around, Ford is taking on a remake of the classic 1949 British black comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets, originally directed by Robert Hamer and written by Hamer and John Dighton.
The core idea stays intact, but the numbers shift slightly. In the original story, the lead character had to get rid of eight relatives. Here, Becket only has seven targets.
Alongside Powell, the film features Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, Bill Camp, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, and Ed Harris, with a few more surprises sprinkled in.
This looks like a nasty, funny, and entertaining ride. Studiocanal and A24 will bring How to Make a Killing to theaters across the U.S. starting February 20th, 2026.
