New Trailer For Matt Damon and Ben Afleck's Crime Thriller THE RIP For Director Joe Carnahan
Netflix just dropped a new trailer for The Rip, and it looks like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are headed straight for trouble. Directed by Joe Carnahan, the crime thriller leans hard into paranoia, pressure, and the kind of moral gray areas that turn lifelong allies into potential enemies.
Affleck and Damon play Miami cops whose routine operation spirals out of control after they stumble upon a massive $20 million cash stash. What should’ve been a career-defining bust quickly becomes something far more dangerous.
As the clock starts ticking, so does the distrust. Every glance feels loaded, every decision risky, and it’s clear that survival might come at the cost of loyalty.
Netflix’s official loglinereads; "Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question – including who they can rely on."
Carnahan’s fingerprints are all over this film. The action looks sharp and aggressive, but it looks like the tension between characters is what really drives the stroy.
The supporty cast includes Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler.
This marks yet another reunion for Affleck and Damon, whose on-screen chemistry has been a constant since Good Will Hunting put them on the map. They’ve popped up together several times since, including The Last Duel and Air, but The Rip feels like a different project for them.
If you’re into crime thrillers where trust is fragile and every decision carries weight, this one looks like it’s going to hit hard.
The Rip hits Netflix on January 16.
