New Trailer For Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore's MAY DECEMBER
Netflix has released a new trailer for director Todd Haynes' upcoming film May December, which stars Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore. The story is set twenty years after a notorious tabloid romance gripped the nation, and a seemingly secure married couple with a huge age-gap buckles under the pressure when a popular television actress arrives to do research for a film about their sordid past.
The description reads: “Elizabeth (Portman), a popular TV star, is ingratiating herself into the lives of Gracie (Moore), whom she’ll be playing on-screen, and her much younger husband, Joe (Charles Melton), to better understand the psychology and circumstances that more than 20 years ago made them notorious tabloid figures. From a sensational premise, consummate film artist Todd Haynes has constructed an American tale of astonishing richness & depth, which touches the pressure and pleasure points of a culture obsessed equally with celebrity and trauma.”
The movie is said to explore “one of the great talents of the human species: our colossal refusal to look at ourselves." It certainly looks like it’ll tell an interesting story, but the movie definitely isn’t going to be for everyone. It looks like Portman and Moore are going to give great performances.
Netflix will release May December in select theaters on November 17th, 2023, then streaming on Netflix starting December 1st.
