Nicholas Galitzine Reveals Hugh Jackman and Marvel Movies Helped Shape His MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Performance

While we wait to see what Masters of the Universe will bring to the big screen, star Nicholas Galitzine is already giving us a better idea of the energy he’s bringing to Prince Adam and He-Man. And apparently, a few Marvel heavy-hitters helped him figure it all out.

While speaking with ComicBook, Galitzine explained that working alongside Hugh Jackman before filming started ended up having a huge impact on how he approached the legendary Eternian hero.

The actor had just wrapped work on The Sheep Detectives with Jackman and used the opportunity to learn from someone who’s spent decades carrying one of Marvel’s most iconic characters.

“I got to work with Hugh Jackman right before I started shooting [Masters of the Universe], and obviously, there was some comedy in Wolverine.

“It’s a drier comedy for sure, but I think just really picking his brain on how to kind of…embody this person who has this kind of this power imbued within them. There was just so many different sort of things I took, and really, a lot of it was there in the script.”

He-Man has always been larger-than-life, but if Galitzine is pulling inspiration from Jackman’s balance of intensity, charisma, and humor, that could give the character a much more entertaining edge than fans might expect.

Jackman wasn’t the only Marvel influence he mentioned either. Galitzine also pointed to Guardians of the Galaxy and Chris Hemsworth’s evolution as Thor as major reference points for the tone he wants to hit.

“I have to say, obviously, the first Guardians of the Galaxy was really, actually kind of just very formative for me in terms of watching the genre and seeing how you could combine hard action and comedy.

“I’d say, you know, how Chris Hemsworth evolved his take on Thor. It was almost more Shakespearean when it first started.”

The original Thor films leaned heavily into fantasy mythology and royal drama before Taika Waititi came in and cranked up the cosmic weirdness and humor with Thor: Ragnarok. Bright cosmic worlds, giant battles, magical weapons, over-the-top villains, and a hero who looks like he walked off the cover of a fantasy painting? The DNA is definitely there.

If Masters of the Universe can capture that same mix of action, adventure, comedy, and fantasy spectacle while still feeling true to He-Man, this movie could end up being something pretty awesome.

Masters of the Universe is currently set to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.
