Nicolas Cage Has Heard Some Talk About Joining STAR TREK and Wants "To Be on the Entertprise"

Nicolas Cage wants in on the Star Trek franchise and hopes to one day find himself as a member of the U.S.S. Enterprise bridge crew. The actor previously said in an interview: “I'm a Trekkie, man, I'm on the Enterprise. That's where I roll." Now, Cage is saying that he’s heard some talk about joining Star Trek, He explained to TrekMovie:

"Well, my passion is more Trekkie. I grew up watching Shatner and Nimoy and Bones and those stories on television had a lot of wisdom and socially relevant commentary. So I've always been partial to Star Trek. Well, I've been hearing some talk about it, but nothing real… Since [the 2023 interview] there was a few comments from Paramount, but who knows? I'd want to be on the bridge. I want to be on the Enterprise. Yeah… Who knows?"

In a separate interview with ScreenRant, Cage says there has actually been some talk, and shares what the film would have to entail for him to join:

"There were a couple of phone calls. I don't know, I'd have to see a script. It would have to be something that I could really add my flavor to; have some pop and some spark. I wouldn't want to just do anything, because I have so much love for the franchise. I want to be on the Enterprise. Ideally, I'd have to be on the Enterprise in some capacity. I don't want to be floating in space on a satellite! I want to be on the bridge, but they have to bring it to me."

When talking about why he is a fan of Star Trek, Cage previously said:

"I like the political, the sociological -- to me, what science fiction is really all about and why it's such an important genre is that is really where you can really say whatever you want, however you feel, you put it on a different planet, you put it in a different time or in the future and you can – without people just jumping on you. You can really express your thoughts like Orwell in the science fiction format and Star Trek really embraced that. I thought they got into some serious stuff."

It would be fun and interesting to see Cage star in a Star Trek movie. It’s something I could definitely see happening one day if the producers of the franchise could actually figure out what they want to do with it an get another movie off the ground!
