Nindies Show CUPHEAD, ZELDA Spin-Off, and More Coming to Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch is becoming a go-to console for indie game developers. At GDC this week, Nintendo unveiled a full slate of indie titles coming to the Switch, and while I normally get overwhelmed at the number of titles in these Nindie Showcase videos, there are a couple of titles worth talking about more this time around. Of course, I’ve included the full video below, so let me know which titles you’re most excited for.

Cuphead (0:16)

Cuphead has exclusively been on PC and Xbox One, but it’s now coming to the Nintendo Switch. The beautiful art is reminiscent of the 1930s and the gameplay has been heralded since its launch. I’m excited to try Cuphead out on the go, and I know I’m not the only one. Cuphead’s venture onto the Nintendo Switch will happen on April 18.

Stranger Things 3: The Game (22:13)

We already knew about this game, but it’s always nice to learn new details. The trailer for the third season of Stranger Things dropping on the same day as this showcase aired just adds to the hype fans are feeling. I enjoyed the first Stranger Things game that was released on mobile phones in anticipation of the second season, so I’m sure this one will also be a blast. Stranger Things 3: The Game will be available on July 4 (the same day season three premieres on Netflix) and features local co-op!

Cadence of Hyrule – Crypt of the Necrodancer (24:16)

Cadence of Hyrule is the most unique game featured in our list. It takes the rhythm-based rogue gameplay and style of Crypt of the Necrodancer and brings it to Hyrule. I wonder if this was the rumored unannounced Zelda game scheduled to release this year. The game looks like a lot of fun and of the three I’ve listed, is the one I’m looking forward to the most. No specific release date has been given, but we can expect it Spring 2019.
