Paramount Pictures Gives Liam Neeson's THE NAKED GUN Reboot a Summer 2025 Release Date

It’s been a few years since we last heard an update about the reboot of The Naked Gun, which Liam Neeson is set to star in. Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is heading up the remake, and though it seemed to have faded away as the years have gone on, Paramount Pictures recently gave it a release date, so it must be heading forward!

The original movie followed Leslie Nielsen as slapstick/deadpan Los Angeles detective Frank Drebin as he encountered various crimes, getting himself into hilarious situations. Based on the short-lived spoof series The Police Squad! that aired on ABC in 1982, the film series was infinitely more successful, resulting in two sequels that became solid box office hits. With all the nostalgia there is for rebooting previously successful titles, it was only a matter of time before Paramount circled back around to The Naked Gun.

Akiva Shaffer (Hot Rod, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) will direct the movie, in addition to executive producing and co-writing the script with Dan Gregor and Doug Man.

Neeson previously worked with MacFarlane when they starred in A Million Ways To Die In The West, as well as Neeson’s cameos in Ted 2 and an episode of The Orville, so the pair go way back, and they know they’d work well together. I think Neeson will be outstanding in this movie, and is just the guy to live up to the level of comedy brought to the screen in the original film by star Leslie Nielson.

Are you looking forward to this remake?
