Patrick Stewart Addresses That Professor X Sounding Voice DOCTOR STRANGE 2 Trailer
When that most recent trailer dropped for Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a lot of fans sware that Patrick Stewart’s Professor X is going to appear in the film and that that’s his voice we heard in the trailer telling Doctor Strange, "We should tell him the truth." I did a whole write-up on that here.
I’m still not 100% convinced that it’s Stewart. Now Stewart is addressing the fan speculation, and in a recent interview with CB, Stewart denies that it’s him and explains that it’s just someone imitating him:
"You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago. So, I can't be held responsible for that."
The big question is, is Stewart telling the truth, or is he pulling an Andrew Garfield and will continue to deny it until the movie is finally released and there he is?
Look, the fact of the matter is Stewart has said in the past that he was retiring from the role after Logan because that movie was so good, it made him not want to reprise the role again. He said:
“I was so moved by it, much more moved than I had been the first time of seeing it… [After the screening,] we were going to be taken up on stage, but not until the credits were over. We had some time to sit there and, as I sat there, I realized there will never be a better, a more perfect, a more sensitive, emotional, and beautiful way of saying au revoir to Charles Xavier than this movie. So, I told [Hugh] that same evening, ‘I’m done too. It’s all over.'”
If Patrick Stewart does show up, cool! But, I’m just not sure if that’s how things are going to play out. Gotta keep my expectations in check. We’ll just have to wait and see.
