Patrick Stewart Says Doors Are Open For More Picard After STAR TREK: PICARD Season 3
It’s been said several times that Star Trek: Picard Season 3 is going to close out the story for Jean Luc Picard. The creative team behind the show has made it seem like this is it, this is the end for Picard and the rest of the Next Generation characters. But, maybe that’s not the case!
Patrick Stewart and producer Alex Kurtzman are now saying that the door has been left open for more Picard in the Star Trek universe. During an interview with Deadline, Stewart said:
“There is still enormous potential for matters in what we can do and there are doors left open and we didn’t close all of them.”
Kurtzman went on to say that “anything is possible,” and adds:
“If the show blows the doors off the place, and we’re certainly hoping it will as we’re very proud of season three, who knows.”
Now, Stewart recently talked about closing out the series, saying: "I'm excited about [how Season 3] deals with the Next Generation cast saying goodbye to Star Trek. I know that's going to mean a great deal to fans."
But, you know, maybe they aren’t really saying goodbye anymore. I don’t know! I guess we’ll have to wait and see! I would sure love to see more of Picard in the future, but they are playing with my emotions here with mixed messages! Is it the end or isn’t it!?
Season three brings back the cast of Star Trek: Next Generation, more than 20 years after Star Trek: Nemesis. Picard will once again reunite with Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), who appeared in the first season of Picard, and it also featured Data (Brent Spiner). But, now he’ll be joined by LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forg, Michael Dorn as Worf, Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musiker, Gates McFadden as Beverly Crusher, and Jeri Ryan as Commander Seven of Nine.
The third season will premiere on Paramount+ February 16. Here’s a new poster!
