Patrick Stewart Still Wants a STAR TREK: PICARD Movie to Happen
Star Trek: Picard came to an end with its third season, which ended up being quite incredible! I loved the last season of that series! I was left wanting to see the story continue, and that could actually happen as a movie.
While Paramount+ has said that the final Star Trek: Picard season is the last adventure of the Enterprise-D crew, the show's returning cast would all love to do more, and Patrick Stewart is still pushing for a final movie that will bring the crew back together. While talking to IndieWire, he said:
"I think we could do a movie, a Picard-based movie. Now not necessarily at all about Picard but about all of us. And to take many of those wonderful elements, particularly from Season 3 of Picard, and take out of that what I think could be an extraordinary movie. I keep telling people and mentioning it, and so far there's been no eager response, but it might well happen. And that would be I think a very appropriate way to say, 'And goodbye folks.'"
It’s crazy to me that there’s been “no eager response” because this is something the fans would love to see. Now, there is an opportunity for the cast to appear again in the proposed Star Trek: Legacy sequel series, but it would still be great to see a movie get made.
While at New York Comic Con last year, a fan asked the crew if Picard really is going to be their final outing. Gates McFadden first responded saying that she’d be happy for it to go on "forever." Jonathan Frakes added that they're "not dead yet,” followed up by Marina Sirtis saying, "Just old." Brent Spiner then jokingly suggested he could get a solo series as the lead.
Then there was Stewart, who said: "I know there are some Paramount+ people here and also from Paramount Pictures, we could still make a movie." Frakes went on to talk about how there's a Star Trek-shaped hole in Paramount Pictures' release schedule following Star Trek 4. He then suggested that maybe a new Next Generation movie could fill that void.
What do you think? Would you want to see a Star Trek: Picard movie that brought back to the Enterprise-D crew?
