Patrick Stewart Teases Possible Professor X and Magneto Reunion Saying He and Ian McKellan Have "Got Plans"
Patrick Stewart continues to tease his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Professor X! The actor was previously asked if he would be returning for one Marvel adventure in Deadpool 3, and he revealed that he’s "been told to standby. I know nothing more than that, honest."
Now, the actor is hinting that his Charles Xavier might actually be reuniting with Sir Ian McKellen's Magneto! This would be huge if it actually happened! The last time they appeared together in a Marvel movie was in the 2014 film X-Men: Days of Future Past.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight the actor was asked about the possibility of playing Xavier again and he said: "I can't say about what Charles' future might possibly hold.”
He went on to talk about how McKellan had a favorable response to his appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It’s at this point that he teased Professor X and Magneto reunion:
"Actually, it went very well. He did say something like ['Hey, I would've done this!'], yes, that's true, but we're not done, Sir Ian and myself. We're... we got plans."
So, maybe both Stewart and McKellan have been told by Marvel Studios to stand by?! I have no idea, but Stewart seems to think that something may be happening with the two of them in the MCU. We’ll just have to wait and see! It sure would be awesome to see them back together again as these characters, though.
I can’t help but wonder what is going through Kevin Feige’s mind as Stewart continues to talk about his potential return as Professor X.
