Paul Bettany Confirms VISIONQUEST Takes Place “A Year or So” After WANDAVISION

It’s been a while since fans last saw Vision soaring off into the unknown at the end of WandaVision, but Paul Bettany is offering some insight on where his story picks up next in Marvel’s upcoming series VisionQuest.

During an interview with Rotten Tomatoes at NYCC, Bettany confirmed that the show picks up roughly a year after the events of WandaVision:

"You pick up Vision's story, it's about a year or so later, and White Vision, you'll remember, was given all of Red Vision's memories, including the memories from within the Hex.

“And he is struggling to feel them, connect with the memories. He understands them intellectually but he's wanting to feel those memories, and that is part of the journey of the show."

That final moment in WandaVision, with White Vision taking off after receiving his memories, left plenty of questions hanging and VisionQuest will dive right into those lingering threads, exploring the synthetic Avenger’s struggle to reconcile what he knows with what he feels.

Bettany has previously described the series as something deeper and more personal than fans might expect:

"It’s about intergenerational trauma… fathers and sons and denial of pain and denial of your own truth and coming to terms with who and what you are.”

That kind of emotional core fits perfectly with the themes WandaVision explored so effectively, but this time it sounds like Vision’s evolution will take center stage.

The cast lineup for VisionQuest is shaping up to be a strong one, featuring James Spader returning as Ultron, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, T'Nia Miller as Jocasta, and Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H.

Fans will also see James D’Arcy back as Jarvis and Ruaridh Mollica as Thomas Shepherd, one of Wanda and Vision’s twin sons.

VisionQuest is set to release in 2026, giving fans plenty of time to speculate on where the story will lead and how Vision’s journey toward self-discovery might shape the next era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Before that, Marvel’s Wonder Man is slated to arrive this coming January.
