Paul Walker’s Brother Addresses His Potential FAST FOREVER Return and Who Gets the Final Say
Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner could ride again in Fast Forever, but if the final Fast & Furious movie brings the character back, Walker’s brothers say the decision shouldn’t be theirs.
Cody Walker, who helped complete Furious 7 following his brother’s death, says the person who should have the final say over the use of Paul Walker’s likeness is Paul’s daughter, Meadow Rain Walker.
He shared: “My stance is, it’s what Meadow wants to see done; it’s her father.”
As you know, Vin Diesel continues to tease the possibility of Brian appearing in the eleventh and final installment of the franchise.
Walker probably couldn’t have imagined where this whole thing was headed when he climbed behind the wheel for The Fast and the Furious in 2001. He had already become a familiar face through movies including Pleasantville, Varsity Blues and She’s All That, but 2001 pushed him into leading-man territory with Joy Ride and The Fast and the Furious.
What started as a street-racing Point Break-style crime movie grew into one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises, with Walker’s Brian becoming one of its defining characters alongside Diesel’s Dominic Toretto.
Walker died in a car crash in 2013 while Furious 7 was still in production. The filmmakers were then faced with the incredibly difficult task of finishing the movie without him.
His brothers, Cody and Caleb Walker, stepped in to help complete Paul’s remaining scenes. Visual effects artists used CGI and face-replacement techniques to create the finished performance, eventually leading to the movie’s emotional final sequence.
Brian pulls up beside Dom for one last drive, echoing the racing relationship that helped launch the franchise in the first place. The two eventually take separate roads, giving Walker a memorable farewell while allowing Brian to remain alive within the story.
The franchise explained Brian’s absence by having him retire from the crew’s increasingly insane adventures to raise his children with Jordana Brewster’s Mia Toretto.
That solution has allowed The Fate of the Furious, Fast 9 and Fast X to continue without killing Brian off. It has also left the door cracked open for a possible return.
With Fast Forever intended to close out the saga, that possibility has become a much bigger topic. Diesel has repeatedly fueled speculation that Brian could somehow factor into the finale, which naturally raises a tricky question: who should decide whether Paul Walker’s likeness is used?
According to Cody, it should be Meadow. The 27-year-old model is Paul’s daughter with Rebecca Soteros and Diesel’s goddaughter. Diesel has publicly supported her over the years, making her connection to both Paul and the Fast & Furious family especially significant.
Cody also made it clear that neither he nor Caleb would necessarily have to return as stand-ins if the filmmakers decided to bring Brian back.
“If they want to do that, if Meadow would like to see that, they don’t need me or Caleb. AI was not a thing back in 2014, so they could do that. There are years of footage that was never used from these other Fast films. They’re the best in the business; they can figure that out.”
Cody and Caleb also went through the unusual and undoubtedly difficult experience of stepping into their brother’s role shortly after his death. There’s no practical reason they would have to repeat that process when a stunt performer could handle the physical work and visual effects could take care of the rest.
The bigger question isn’t whether the filmmakers can recreate Brian O’Conner. They almost certainly can. It’s whether they should.
Brian’s farewell in Furious 7 remains one of the franchise’s most memorable moments, and bringing him back risks messing with an ending that already worked.
At the same time, Fast Forever is supposed to close the book on a series Paul Walker helped turn into a global phenomenon. Seeing Brian one final time could be a fitting piece of that goodbye if it’s handled with care.
