PEAKY BLINDERS Producer and VIKINGS Creator Developing Historical Drama Series CIVIL BLOOD

Peaky Blinders producer Caryn Mandabach Productions is set to develop a historical drama series titled Civil Blood. The show is being developed with End of the F***ing World director Jonathan Entwistle, and it sounds like it’ll tell an interesting story.

The story is set in 17th-century England, and it follows the adventures of a young woman growing up in a time of war. The series is described as a “mash-up of coming of age story with high-stakes action and world-changing ideas.”

The project is being written by Cat Clarke and Michael Hirst, and is based on an original idea that they came up with along with Dario Poloni. Hirst is the creator of Vikings and Billy the Kid, and Clarke was a writer on Good Omens and Ten Percent.

Entwistle said in a statement: “This script has history, heart, family and war – all wrapped up in a punk attitude. This is a period of history not often explored, and certainly not from this point of view. There’s a sense of the American western in this world. At its heart is an iconic lead with a great pop sensibility – someone who thinks that history only happens to other people, until cataclysmic events bring history rushing in to the present.”

CMP Creative Director Jamie Glazebrook described Entwistle’s vision as “fresh, vibrant, indelible” and said Hirst and Clarke’s script is “provocative, deeply moving and profoundly entertaining.”
