PEAKY BLINDERS Season 6 Finally Gets a Premiere Date For This Summer!
Netflix has announced that the sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders is set to premiere this summer on June 10th! The final season will consist of six episodes and I’m excited about watching them!
The story will continue to follow Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and his notorious family’s rise to power against the backdrop of working class, post-WWI Birmingham. Shelby is also on a mission to take down fascist leader Oswald Mosley.
In this new season, “Tommy Shelby will square off with various foes, but the most formidable enemy he has is himself.” Steven Knight previously teased, "we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it.”
Murphy also opened up about the final season saying, "I think that’s what Steve [Knight, showrunner] was aiming for, with loads of wrong turns along the way. But I don’t know. I’ll leave that to the court of public opinion. I don’t know if he’s been redeemed."
Here’s the synopsis for the series:
Britain is a mixture of despair and hedonism in 1919 in the aftermath of the Great War. Returning soldiers, newly minted revolutions and criminal gangs are fighting for survival in a nation rocked by economic upheaval. One of the most powerful gangs of the time is the Peaky Blinders, run by returning war hero Thomas Shelby and his family. But Thomas has bigger ambitions than just running the streets. When a crate of guns goes missing, he recognizes an opportunity to advance in the world because crime may pay but legitimate business pays better. Trying to rid Britain of its crime is Inspector Chester Campbell, who arrives from Belfast to try to achieve that goal.
Peaky Blinders also stars Paul Anderson as Tommy’s brother Arthur, Sophie Rundle as his sister Ada, Finn Cole as his cousin Michael, Anya Taylor-Joy as Michael's wife, and Tom Hardy as Alfie.
