Pedro Pascal Discusses Mando's Leadership Role in THE MANDALORIAN Season 3
One of the upcoming shows that I’m looking forward to finally watching is Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian Season 3. I saw a trailer for this show at Star Wars Celebration and it blew me and the rest of the fans away! That trailer still has yet to be released online!
In the footage that was shared, we see Pedro Pascal’s Mando seemingly leading a group of Mandalorians. The fact that he now carries the Darksaber, it makes sense that we would see him lead at some point. During a recent interview with Total Film, the actor talked about his leadership role this next season, saying:
"If he is stepping into a leadership position, he’s reluctant to do so. I don't think that there's anything more interesting than a character being forced into discovering what they're capable of, and who they are. That part has been really, really fun. Also, from my point of view, there's so many searchable ways to find the tonality of that. I just tried to achieve the subtleties of that kind of character development.”
Now, as Mando is stepping into a leadership position, Bo-Katan is dealing with the disappointment of not taking back the Darksaber. Bo-Katan actress Katee Sackoff says, "Anytime you have a goal and you don't succeed, I think you reevaluate.”
The next chapter of the story finds Din Djarin and Grogu heading off to Mandalore so that he could be "forgiven for his transgressions." Bo-Katan will also have a much bigger role this time around.
When talking about Din and Grogu’s bond, Pascal said: "What I love is the idea of who's protecting who because Grogu is discovering more and more of his powers, and it's very important for Mando to nurture it and to also make sure it's harnessed in the right way."
Giancarlo Esposito, who takes on the role of the villainous Moff Gideon, said that the scale of Season 3 is "larger than ever… and it's just an expansion, in many ways, of last season. It's a season that has great ideas, great teasings, and great tips for the future."
The Mandalorian Season 3 is set to arrive on Disney+ in February 2023. How do you think Mando’s story is going to play out in Season 3?
