Pedro Pascal Praises STAR WARS: ANDOR as One of the Best Political Thrillers Ever

Pedro Pascal has finally caught up with Star Wars: Andor, and he’s giving the series high praise. The star of The Mandalorian & Grogu took to Instagram to share his reaction after finishing the second season, which wrapped up earlier this year.

“Unforgivably late to this party. The best political thriller series maybe ever?” Pascal wrote, making it clear he’s just as impressed as the critics and fans who have championed the show since its debut.

Pascal isn’t alone in celebrating the series. Last month, Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin also declared, “Andor was this year’s highlight,” adding that it brought “a realism and tension to the story” that he felt was “sadly lacking” in much of modern Star Wars. He went on to say, “It’s nice to see someone doing science fiction right.”

The acclaim has been steady for Andor. Season 2 not only boosted its audience numbers by nearly fifty percent during its run, it also cemented itself as one of the most critically reviewed Star Wars projects ever. The show earned 14 Emmy nominations, ranking just behind the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.

Still, many were surprised when Diego Luna and Genevieve O’Reilly weren’t recognized for their performances. Showrunner Tony Gilroy, however, wasn’t bothered. He said:

“These aren't great moment-to-moment [performances]. These are epic, long-term character studies that they’ve done over 24 episodes. I think the ultimate victory is that these performances will be celebrated and discussed for years to come. I feel confident about that.”

For many fans, the awards are secondary to the fact that Andor has carved out its own legacy. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series now sits as the most critically acclaimed live-action Star Wars show to date.

Next up, Pascal will return to the galaxy far, far away on the big screen in The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is set to arrive in theaters in 2026. In the meantime, Ahsoka Season 2 is also on the horizon, though a release date has yet to be confirmed.
