Pedro Pascal in Talks to Join Tony Gilroy’s BEHEMOTH! as Searchlight Picks Up the Project
Following a jam-packed 2025 that saw him score Emmy recognition and lead a Marvel blockbuster, Pedro Pascal isn’t easing up any time soon. The actor is now in talks to star in Tony Gilroy’s upcoming film Behemoth! which has just landed at Searchlight Pictures.
Gilroy is set to write and direct the project, with production aiming to kick off this fall in Los Angeles.
While plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, Gilroy has teased in past interviews that the story centers around a cellist. The filmmaker will also produce alongside Sanne Wohlenberg. Insiders say Pascal is eager to jump aboard and that the deal is moving in the right direction.
This potential collaboration comes on the heels of Pascal’s big year, which included starring in Celine Song’s Materialists for A24, Ari Aster’s Eddington, and Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps. All three films opened to strong reviews, with Materialists marking A24’s third-biggest opening ever, and Fantastic Four: First Steps smashing records as Marvel’s highest-grossing debut of 2025.
Fantastic Four also launched the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Pascal has already wrapped filming on Avengers: Doomsday, which hits theaters in 2026. That same year, he’ll return as Din Djarin in Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.
On television, Pascal most recently earned a Lead Actor Emmy nomination for The Last of Us Season 2 on HBO. His work in the first season landed him Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and a Screen Actors Guild Award win.
Pascal’s other recent projects include Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II, Freaky Tales, and Pedro Almodóvar’s A Strange Way of Life.
As for Gilroy, he’s fresh off the final season of Andor, which pulled in strong reviews and ratings along with an Emmy nomination for Best Drama. Seeing these two talents possibly team up for Behemoth! makes this an interesting film project.
