Pedro Pascal Teases Big Reed Richards and Doctor Doom Conflict in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for a massive showdown in Avengers: Doomsday, and according to Pedro Pascal, fans should prepare themselves for some serious tension between Reed Richards and Doctor Doom.
The actor recently opened up about what’s coming for Marvel’s First Family in the next Avengers movie, and while he stayed careful about spoilers, he definitely made it sound like Reed and Victor von Doom are heading straight into chaos.
Pascal told JeuxActu: "There's so much to expect. We shot it, but I haven't seen it yet. I can't wait." When asked to tease the dynamic between Reed Richards and Doctor Doom specifically, Pascal admitted there’s a lot happening between the characters and said he “wouldn't even know where to begin.”
Anyone familiar with the comics already knows Reed Richards and Victor von Doom have one of Marvel’s greatest rivalries. They’re intellectual equals in many ways, but Doom’s obsession, ego, and bitterness toward Reed have fueled decades of conflict. It looks like the MCU is going to tap into that relationship on a huge scale.
The post-credits scene in The Fantastic Four: First Steps featured a hooded Victor von Doom visiting Sue Storm, played by Vanessa Kirby, and the young Franklin Richards. The moment sparked speculation online, with many fans believing Franklin could become a major target in Doomsday.
One of the more popular theories making the rounds suggests Doom kidnaps Franklin Richards and pulls Marvel’s First Family into a multiversal chase to get him back. Considering Franklin’s insane comic book-level powers, it wouldn’t be surprising if Doom saw him as the ultimate key to reshaping reality itself.
And then there’s the added intrigue of Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the role of Doctor Doom. After defining the MCU as Tony Stark for over a decade, seeing Downey return as one of Marvel’s most dangerous villains still feels surreal.
Pairing him against Pascal’s Reed Richards could end up becoming one of the MCU’s biggest character rivalries moving forward.
Before Pascal stretches back into the MCU, fans will first see him return to another massive franchise. He’s reprising Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and Grogu, the upcoming Star Wars feature film that follows Mando and Grogu on a new mission involving Rotta the Hutt, played by Jeremy Allen White, and an Imperial warlord portrayed by Jonny Coyne. The duo is sent on the adventure by a New Republic colonel played by Sigourney Weaver.
Marvel fans still have a bit of a wait before Doomsday arrives, but the idea of Reed Richards and Doctor Doom finally colliding in the MCU already sounds awesome.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, while The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives on May 22.
