Peter Jackson is a Fan of TALK TO ME and Describes Film as Being "Relentlessly Scary and Disturbing"
Director Peter Jackson is a big fan of the new horror hit indie film Talk To Me, which is seeing big success at the box office. This movie continues to get good reviews from people who go see it. It’s seriously a great horror movie and now the filmmaker behind films such as Bad Taste, The Frighteners, and The Lord of the Rings, has praised the movie.
The filmmaker issued a statement through Ahi, one of the film’s distributors across Aotearoa and Australia, in which he expressed that Talk to Me is one of the best horror efforts in recent years. He said:
“It’s relentlessly scary and disturbing – in the best possible way, Talk To Me isn’t just good – it’s very very good. The best, most intense horror movie I’ve enjoyed in years.”
That’s high praise from a talented filmmaker like Jackson and I imagine that the directing team, Danny and Michael Philippou, are over the moon with the compliment. Other filmmakers such as Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) and Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) have also contacted the directors and raved about the movie, with Aster calling it a “special” movie.
If you haven’t seen Talk To Me yet, it’s definitely a film worth checking out, especially if you want to get scared! The filmmakers are now working on a sequel.
The synopsis reads: “Conjuring spirits has become the latest local party craze, and looking for a distraction on the anniversary of her mother’s death, teenage Mia (Sophie Wilde) is determined to get a piece of the otherworldly action. When her group of friends gathers for another unruly séance with the mysterious embalmed hand that promises a direct line to the spirits, they’re unprepared for the consequences of bending the rules through prolonged contact. As the boundary between worlds collapses and disturbing supernatural visions increasingly haunt Mia, she rushes to undo the horrific damage before it’s irreversible.”
The film stars Sophie Wilde as Mia, Joe Bird as Riley, Alexandra Jensen, Otis Dhanji, Miranda Otto, Marcus Johnson, Alexandria Steffensen, Zoe Terakes, and Chris Alosio.
