PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Producer Jerry Bruckheimer Is Pushing for Johnny Depp to Return to the Franchise
For years now, we have been hearing about the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie that is “in the works” at Disney. There were two projects being circled for a while, but the female-led film starring Margot Robbie has reportedly been shot down. Now they are moving forward, but things are still uncertain.
One thing producer Jerry Bruckheimer is sure of is that he really wants Johnny Depp to return to the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. Bruckheimer has been very vocal about that hope, while Depp has even said in court that he will not be returning to the role! Bruckheimer sure is persistent.
In a recent red carpet interview with the producer at the Oscars, Bruckheimer was asked by ET what the status of the franchise looked like right now, and he said:
"We're all working on it. We'll see how it comes out. But we're very excited. I think we'll have a great screenplay. And we're getting close."
When asked about whether he is still hoping for Depp to return, he said:
"We'll see. I would love it. I would love him in the movie. That's all I can tell you."
I really don’t think there’s anything that can be said or done to change Depp’s mind at this point, but stranger things have happened. Would you like to see him return to the role of Captain Jack?
