PlayStation Reportedly Developing UNTIL DAWN 2

PlayStation is reportedly finally working on a sequel to its 2015 horror game Until Dawn. The news comes as a remake of the first game was released across PlayStation 5 and PC.

There also a film adaption currently in production with director David F. Samburg. With all this focus on the Until Dawn horror franchise, it seems appropriate for PlayStation to want to start development of a sequel.

The Until Dawn remake includes a new ending for the game which teases that there is more to come. This new conclusion of Until Dawn wasn't in the original version and is exclusive to the remake.

The remake basically adds a new scene that sets the stage for further stories in this universe fo come about in the future. I won’t spoil what that is if you haven’t played the game.

Following the reveal of the new ending, insider Nick Baker shared on X that he has been told PlayStation studio Firesprite is currently in the process of working on Until Dawn 2.

I loved playing through Until Dawn. My kids and I played through it multiple times for the multiple endings, and it will be fun to see what the creative team does with a sequel.

Until Dawn is a survival horror video game that follows eight young adults who are stranded on Blackwood Mountain, a remote and snow-covered area, one year after the mysterious disappearance of two sisters.

The group returns to the same lodge to commemorate the event, but their plans quickly unravel when they become hunted by unknown forces. Players control each of the eight characters throughout the game, making critical decisions that influence the story's direction, including who lives or dies.

The game employs the "butterfly effect" mechanic, meaning every choice—big or small—can lead to dramatically different outcomes, creating a branching narrative with multiple endings.

The game masterfully blends elements of horror subgenres, including slasher films and supernatural terror, keeping players on edge through intense, cinematic sequences and jump scares.

The narrative is deeply immersive, as it forces players to make moral and ethical choices under pressure, which adds to the fun and tension.

With a strong cast of voice actors, such as Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, Until Dawn delivers a gripping, interactive experience that hinges on the player's ability to make life-or-death decisions in an increasingly terrifying scenario.
