The Film Adaptation of PlayStation's Horror Game UNTIL DAWN Gets a Cast
The cast has been announced for Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions feature film adaptation of the hit horror game Until Dawn.
The movie is being helmed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation, Shazam!) and the ensemble cast includes such rising stars as Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), Michael Cimino (Love, Victor), Ji-young Yoo (Expats) and Odessa A’zion(Sitting In Bars With Cake).
Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions, Head of Product for PlayStation Studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment shared the following statement about the casting: “At PlayStation Productions, we are always looking to find creative and authentic ways to adapt our beloved games that our fans will enjoy.
“Alongside Screen Gems, we’ve assembled a fantastic cast of new characters that builds upon our already stellar filmmaking team and their vision for the adaptation. We’re excited to reveal more about the movie soon.”
The plot for the film is under wraps but it’s being described as “an R-rated and terrifying love letter to the horror genre, centering on an ensemble cast.” It’ll be fun to see Sandberg play in the horror genre again.
The story for the game is set one year after the death and disappearance of twin sisters Hannah and Beth, eight friends return to the cabin in the mountains belonging to the parents of their friend Josh, brother of the missing sisters.
Shortly after arriving, the friends realize that they may not be the only people on this mountain.” What follows is a fun and creepy mystery story.
This film may end up telling a different story than the game. The script for was written by Blair Butler (The Invitation), and a recent draft was written by Gary Dauberman (It: Chapter Two and The Nun).
I’m a fan of the game and the story that it tells, so I hope that this movie ends up being just as entertaining.
