Pom Klementieff Reveals the One Stunt in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 Tom Cruise Would Not Do
We all know that Tom Cruise prides himself on learning to do death defying acts to pull off his own stunt work in his films. He jumps out of airplanes, learns how to fly jets, rides motorcycles off of cliffs, and next he’s going into space, but there was one stunt in his most recent film, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, that had the actor saying, “No.”
Actress Pom Klementieff, who is best known for playing Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the one thing Cruise refused to do on set was kick her in the stomach during a fight scene. During a sequence set in Venice, Paris (Klementieff) has a fight with Cruise's super-spy Ethan Hunt and it was while shooting the encounter that the actress asked her co-star to give her a kick in the guts for real.
"I kept telling him to just kick me here," the actress recalled to EW, indicating her midsection. "I was squeezing abs. [I said], 'You can just go for it.' He was like 'No, no, no, no, no.' I was like, 'But it's going to help me!' But he wouldn't do it."
This is actually kind of endearing. Cruise is a weirdo, but it’s nice that he didn’t want to kick his co-star in the stomach.
Klementieff describes her character Paris as someone who "destroys everything in her path. She's a rebel, she's a killer, she's extremely skilled and quite lonely too."
You can check out the villain in all her glory when Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One releases in theaters on July 12th.
